SOSF Lead4Change at a Glance

Tackling pressing challenges in Africa, underscoring the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration.

A virtual stage for innovators to present solutions addressing societal concerns, in line with the 17 SDGs.

Despite the youth’s potential, there’s a noticeable gap in their ability to create enduring social enterprises advancing the SDGs. Many young entrepreneurs are devoid of mentorship, resources, and the acumen to metamorphose their concepts into significant ventures.

SOSF is supporting & amplifying SDGs-linked solutions continent-wide, magnifying their impact

From April to December 2025, selected participants will undergo masterclasses, participate in Alumni series, engage in online courses, access cash funding to test & refine their projects/enterprises, develop pitch decks, receive mentorship, access an enterprise collaboration lounge and implement their social projects/businesses.

The journey concludes with a pitch event for US$5,000 cash and other benefits, prize distribution, and induction into an elite alumni network, granting access to a plethora of enterprise, media, finance & education resources and opportunities for lifelong learning & development.

SOME OF OUR 2022/2023 Lead4Participants

Testimonials

“The fact that I was shortlisted out of thousands and won the competition out of African countries that participated was the most exciting aspect of the Lead4Change Journey. It increased my confidence in being able to run my social enterprise/project and strengthened my strategic planning skills.

Aside from developing a substitute for wood base panels using peanut husk. I also have diverse experience in climate action project, directly connected to the grassroots community, which include, the engagement of farmers and land owners to adapt sustainable methods of farming to mitigate the effect of climate change in our environment.”

Sayedi Mohammed

GreenLITE offers peanut husk-reinforced plastic composite board (PHP) which is produced from plastic waste and peanut husk, this is to replace wood products, thereby reducing deforestation and climate problems.

The primary mission revolves around the restoration of Nigeria’s forests. This is through creating alternative materials for furniture production while simultaneously transforming environmental waste into valuable, eco-friendly products.

GreenLITE achieves the conservation of our natural resources whilst promoting a greener, more sustainable future for Nigeria.

Waste Management & Recycling

Nigeria

“Participating in the Lead4Change Journey, with its training, concept note/business pitch deck template, and pitching opportunities, was a transformative experience, intensively enhancing my social innovation and entrepreneurship skills. This program boosted my confidence and project management abilities, leading to a successful pitch at a world literacy conference and improvements in my social enterprise.

Additionally, Lead4Change’s support played a crucial role in the legal registration of our social innovation, enabling us to apply for grants and strategize towards a sustainable business model.

I also volunteered with Child Solidarity Group to conduct research on existing policies and recommendations to the challenge of Almajiri children and out-of-school children in Nigeria. “

Lilian Efobi

Skills on Wheels is a not-for-profit organization committed to fostering literacy, digital, and technical skills in out-of-school youths to ensure their financial and social inclusion.

Using the Human-centered Design approach, a self-sustainable, scalable, and technology-driven model was developed to address the challenge of out-of-school children’s multifaceted struggles.

2 Key Projects:  (i) Makaranta Mota- specifically designed to foster literacy, digital, and technical skills in Almajiri students who contribute to the bulk of out-of-school children in Nigeria (ii) Skills Drive- designed to foster literacy and technical skills in the children of beggars & destitute.

Economic Empowerment

Nigeria

“Lead4Change strengthened my social business/project management skills and strategic planning skills. It also enabled me to improve my marketing approaches. I have an implementation plan, and it has led to the successful implementation and growth of the social project/business.

We currently do a lot of team work. A team sits together to make decisions other than the leader being in charge of all the solutions.

We are currently partnering with like-minded stakeholders in the education sector and those who directly deal with children. For example, the Africa yoga project. Lead4Change provided me opportunities to interact with other people facing similar challenges.”

Betsy Ming’ala

Kenyan Kids Network exists to enhance literacy skills in the African child. By creating a #safespace for any child to play, learn & interact positively #indoor and #outdoor. The network recently set up a library with an array of books, games and magazines, for 3_5 preschoolers to high school level.

The Kenyan Kids Network includes a resource centre, the Brielle Totos Daycare, which offers comprehensive daycare, nightcare, and afterschool services for children aged 6 months and above. The facility features a low child-to-teacher ratio, a qualified paramedic on-site, and spacious, child-friendly play areas. We emphasize holistic childcare with certified caregivers and nutritious meals, ensuring a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for every child.
